OPPO and UNDP Will Accelerate Young Entrepreneurs’ Contribution to Sustainable Development

OPPO encourages young entrepreneurs to help address climate change challenges through technological innovation to create a sustainable future.

OPPO has announced a one-year partnership with UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) to engage young social entrepreneurs in their efforts to address social sustainability issues through innovation. With this initiative, OPPO will help young entrepreneurs develop their ideas and support them to play a more effective role in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

William Liu, OPPO Vice President and Head of Global Marketing, said: “Today, young people are no longer just spectators to the changing world around them. Instead, they are eager to channel their passion and creativity to create a better world. At OPPO, our brand mission is to create ‘Technology for Humanity, Good for the World’… We are proud to work with UNDP to support the younger generation in tackling the most pressing global challenges we face. We believe that the talents of young people will provide brand new solutions for sustainable development that will benefit people around the world.”

As one of the first programs in the partnership, OPPO supported UNDP with the 2021 National Dialogue China held online from 23-27 August. National Dialogue China is part of Youth Co:Lab, the largest youth social entrepreneurship movement in Asia and the Pacific, co-created by UNDP and partners. This year’s theme of the National Dialogue, which aims to encourage young people to take full advantage of digital skills to tackle climate challenges using innovative, inclusive and sustainable solutions, is ‘Climate Action and Accelerating Green Recovery’.

As a partner of the 2021 National Dialogue China, OPPO not only provided expert guidance and training in media production and digital marketing, but also offered approximately $46,000 in grants to the eight winning teams in the National Dialogue. Entrepreneurship projects selected through the 2021 National Dialogue China will also be available for the 2022 Youth Co:Lab, where the winners will meet with other young entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries and regions to discuss how young people can help achieve sustainable development goals using social innovation and entrepreneurship. From now on, OPPO will continue to support young entrepreneurship projects that address climate issues through the Innovation Incubation Camp.

Believing in the power of the young generation for a long time, OPPO aims to strengthen its cooperation with UNDP in the future to further strengthen the young generation working together to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
